It's not too late

A lot of adults put off lessons for years because they think they missed the window. You didn't. Adults have real advantages: you can focus for longer, you understand why practice matters, and you know exactly what music you want to play. What adults usually lack is time, so lessons are built to make the practice you do get count.

We wrote more about this in is it too late to learn an instrument as an adult.

Who we teach

  • True beginners. No background needed. Plenty of people start from zero.
  • Returning players. You took piano at nine or played guitar in college. A teacher helps you pick it back up without starting over.
  • Stuck players. You've been playing the same songs for years and want to get better. Lessons give you a plan.
  • Parents of students. If your kid takes lessons, there's no reason you can't too.

What lessons look like

Every lesson is private and planned for you. Tell your teacher what you want to play, and they'll build the technique, reading and theory around it. You set the pace.

  • A standing weekly time. Same teacher, same slot, picked around your schedule.
  • 30, 45 or 60 minutes. Many adults choose 45 or 60 to cover more ground.
  • Your teacher texts you directly. Scheduling, practice notes and questions between lessons.
  • Monthly billing. Paid monthly in advance and charged automatically once your card is saved.
  • Life happens. Give 24 hours notice and we'll schedule a makeup within 30 days.

Pick an instrument

  • Guitar is the most popular choice for adults, electric or acoustic. See how long it takes to learn guitar.
  • Piano and keys, classical or pop, reading or by ear.
  • Drums are a great way to blow off steam, and an electronic kit keeps home practice quiet.
  • Voice for confidence, range and singing while you play.
  • Bass if you've always wanted to be the one holding the band together.
  • Ukulele for something relaxed and quick to enjoy.

Making practice fit a busy week

  • Fifteen minutes beats none. Short, focused sessions most days add up fast.
  • Keep the instrument out. On a stand where you'll see it, not in a case in the closet.
  • Attach it to a habit. Right after coffee, or before you open your laptop at night.
  • Tell your teacher how much time you really have. They'll plan for it.

FAQ

Adults ask

Am I too old to start music lessons?

No. Adults learn instruments all the time. You bring patience, focus and a clear idea of the music you love, which helps a lot.

I played as a kid and stopped. Do I start over?

No. Your teacher starts where you are. Returning players are often surprised how much comes back once they start practicing again.

Can adults take lessons at the same studio as kids?

Yes. Lessons are private and one on one, so your lesson is planned for you.

How long should an adult lesson be?

Many adults choose 45 or 60 minutes to cover more ground. Thirty minutes works well if your practice time is limited. Lessons come in 30, 45 or 60 minutes.

What if work or travel makes me miss a week?

Give 24 hours notice and we'll schedule a makeup lesson within 30 days.
